How to read this spread

The crossroads spread is the spread for binary decisions. Name your two paths clearly before shuffling β€” "Stay at current company" vs "Take the new role," for instance. Shuffle holding both options. Lay cards 1-2 on the left (Path A, short then long), cards 3-4 on the right (Path B, short then long). Read each path as a story (short β†’ long), then compare the two paths. Often path A is comfortable in the short term but stalled long term; path B is harder short term but expansive long term. The deeper teaching: every choice carries a cost. The spread shows the trade-off honestly.

Example reading

Worked exampleQuestion asked: "Stay in my current city (A) or move to start fresh (B)?"

  • #1 Β· Four of Wands

Path A short term: stability, celebration, your existing community. Comfortable.

  • #2 Β· Eight of Cups

Path A long term: a quiet sense of having outgrown the place. Walking away anyway, later.

  • #3 Β· Five of Pentacles

Path B short term: financial strain, feeling alone, the cold of a new city.

  • #4 Β· The Sun

Path B long term: joy, clarity, the life you came to find. Worth the cold winter.

SynthesisThe short-term comfort of Path A becomes a quiet long-term restlessness. The short-term hardship of Path B becomes long-term joy. The cards do not tell you what to do β€” but they tell you what each choice costs and what each choice grows into. Choose with eyes open.

Frequently asked questions

Then the decision is more emotional than strategic. Draw a single clarifying card asking: which path is more aligned with my soul right now?
Not with this spread β€” for three or more options, use a separate three-card mini-spread per path (short, medium, long term) and compare the stories side by side.
